We love to show our moms how much we appreciate their love and support on Mother’s Day. But at the rescue, we wish that we did not have so many dog and cat moms in our care. According to The Humane Society of the United States, there are an estimated 6-8 million homeless animals entering shelters each year. These animals are all looking for loving homes, but tragically nearly 2.7 million of those animals are euthanized on an annual basis.
How can you help? Do your part – make sure that your female pets are spayed, or your male pets neutered. Spay/neuter surgery is the only 100% effective way to prevent unwanted litters. Studies also show that pets that have been fixed live longer and healthier lives. Don’t forget – cats can become pregnant as early as 4 months of age, and dogs at 5 months of age, so don’t delay. If your pet is 2 months old and weighs at least 2 pounds they can undergo spay/neuter surgery.
Remember, it only takes one “accident” for a pet to get pregnant! Schedule your pet’s spay/neuter surgery now by calling our Clinic at 330.865.6890.
