One of A Kind Education

Last week, our county’s Covid-19 CDC color level was changed to purple, which effectively asks everyone to leave home only for supplies or services. Unfortunately, this causes a trickle-down affect in our area as more businesses choose to close, individuals are without incomes, and children are home from school. The country has experienced an increase in owner surrenders of their pets due to the inability to care for them properly. On a positive note, there has also been an increase in adoptions as more individuals are teleworking and children are distance learning. For many, it is a wonderful time to adopt a new pet since they are now home.

One of A Kind Pet Rescue has been able to safely navigate these changes to accommodate as many families and pets as possible. Last week, we were able to find homes for 98 pets in need.

Many are unaware that our rescue efforts are a balance of helping the members of our community in need, as well as saving the pets in the most danger of losing their lives. We have three vans that we regularly use in trips to rescue pets from Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky. Our staff is committed to this mission, and we know our followers are as well.

Since Summit County is virtually a no-kill community, our efforts must reach further to those who need us most. This is the only way in which we can achieve a no-kill society. One of A Kind is just one piece of the nation-wide goal that has been established by animal lovers across the country.
