One of A Kind Education

The mission of One of A Kind Pet Rescue is to save pets in imminent danger. That has not faltered over the years. Currently, the animals displaced in the southeast region of the United States from hurricane destruction are in serious danger. We plan to utilize our resources to do our part in helping the situation.

By the time you read this, we will be arriving in Marion, North Carolina, which is right next to Asheville and Black Mountain. The rescue in that area is desperately trying to match displaced animals with their owners. We will help by bringing the animals previously in their care up to Ohio to find their forever homes. This will open space for the animals waiting for their families to find them. We will not bring any animals to Ohio that were not previously homeless. Those babies need to find their families!

From there, we are traveling in our transport van from Marion, NC to Johnson City, TN. Normally, this is about a one-hour trip, but with the current road closures due to destruction, it is a three-hour drive. This is Washing County Animal Control Facility, and they are also suffering from the effects of Hurricane Helene. In addition to the animals already in their care and animals displaced from the storms, owners are now surrendering their pets because they must focus on rebuilding their lives.

Once we arrive back in Ohio Saturday evening, our team will begin intake on the dogs. Our veterinarian will be evaluating each one and we will supply any vaccines and necessary testing.
