One of A Kind Education

A philosopher once stated that the only constant in life is change. We are experiencing a great deal of change at One of A Kind, and we would like to share some of it with our loyal followers, supporters, and adopters. These changes are encompassing all aspects of our rescue mission and we are doing our best to continue to move forward.

Spay & Neuter Clinic
As many of you may already be aware, our spay & neuter clinic is no longer able to provide services to the public. This was a disappointing change that had to be made due to the lack of surgical staff. In any industry, employees move on to other opportunities, stay home with their children, and retire. We have had all three happen simultaneously! We would like to continue to assist the public, but in order to do so, we must first hire additional veterinarians. When we do, we will make an announcement at that time. These things can’t and shouldn’t be rushed, as we want the right fit at the right time. We are exercising due diligence in this process and appreciate your understanding.

Transport Vans
In the past, our rescue has always functioned with three transport vans available to us. We were able to drive hours away to pick up puppy mill breeders, make pound runs to save pets from being euthanized for space, while also transporting our previously rescued pets to our clinic for their treatments. Unfortunately, two of our vans have met their final days and have been scrapped appropriately. As you can imagine, this has placed a huge restriction on our efforts. Our staff and volunteers are doing their absolute best to jump in with their personal vehicles, but sometimes the vans are required. In times when we cannot say no, we have rented vans and answered the call!

Entry-Level Workers
Our country is continuing to experience a shortage of entry-level workers to the labor force. Our rescue is feeling the effects of this, as we have had a difficult time hiring adoption counselors, kennel workers, and cat care staff. This change is unfortunate, but we are attempting to compensate by welcoming back our volunteers! Open To The Public
We are also celebrating some positive changes! Our adoption center is once again open to the public and we welcome everyone to visit during our normal business hours. Our pets would love the socialization and we will always be devoted as ever to finding loving homes for those in need.
