Fundraising

Fundraising is done in the form of special events such as Chase Your Tail (coming up soon), Whiskers and Tales, Pug Fest (which will return next year), adoption events, restaurant drives, Pluto’s Closet Yard Sale, Yappy Hour at Wolf Creek Winery, Photos With Santa and many other events throughout the year. If you have an idea for an event that you feel would be beneficial to One of A Kind, please feel free to share it with us!

Donations

We also have the most gracious donors ever! Among them are children who save their allowance and then donate it to us, raise money through lemonade stands or ask for donations to our organization in lieu of birthday gifts. Numerous individuals hold Facebook fundraisers in the weeks leading up to their birthday to collect donations. Some will make a donation to us in memory of a loved one who has passed. We also have regular supporters who have funds automatically withdrawn from their bank accounts at the same time each month. Corporations have even collected funds from employees in exchange for wearing jeans to work and other creative ideas. Other donors will donate a check to us at the end of the year to minimize their tax burden while supporting our rescue! All of these funds, regardless of the amount, are genuinely appreciated and maximized!  

Some donations are not always in the form of money. They can  also be consumable items and are just as valuable and appreciated. These items are provided on our website as our “wish list” under the Donate tab. Sometimes schools, fraternities, companies, clubs and neighborhoods hold donation drives to help provide donate large amounts of these items all at once.

Volunteering

Support also comes to our organization in the form of volunteer hours. This is incredibly valuable to us. Individuals are more than welcome to join our team of volunteers and help out whenever time permits. We also let volunteers choose their favorite tasks. Companies plan volunteer days and join us for a few hours. We refer to these efforts as “done in a day” opportunities. Please take note of our new Volunteer Showcase section below, and thank you to everyone who has contributed to our mission in any way! Without these contributions, we would not be able to save all the precious lives that we do.
