Did you know that June is “Adopt a Cat” month? That may have something to do with kitten season being at peak, but June is as good a month as any! If you are thinking that you are ready to add a cat to your home, hopefully the information below will help you with your decision. Cats are lovable, quirky and full of personality and no, a cat is not writing this article!

Ten reasons to adopt a cat.

1. You can name your cat Double Cheeseburger and no one will judge you.
2. You can yell “Parcour!” every time your cat lands a jump.
3. Cat puns are easy. I can do one right meow. Wow, that was clawful, sorry.
4. When your cat stares at the ceiling you can tell your friends about your ghost.
5. The Lion King photoshoot could be spectacular.
6. They make bat wings for cats now. Need I say more?
7. You can finally pay the cat tax.
8. Blaming your messy house on your cat is convenient.
9. You either have no mice or your cat befriends them, both options have benefits.
10. Cats never need to go out for walks at 3am. Never.

How to know if you are ready for a cat.

Here are some questions to ask yourself if you are considering adopting a cat.

1. Does my lap feel cold and empty?
2. Would a purring cat ease some of my stress?
3. Do I want a furry ninja jumping around my house?
4. Do I need a biscuit maker?

If you’ve answered yes to any of those questions, you may be ready to adopt a cat! But there are some other things to take into consideration. Any pet requires a stable living environment and regular vet visits. And even though cats are typically independent, they do enjoy having their human at home and can feel lonely if left alone for too long. So when you are ready, stop by our Adoption Center and visit with our 100+ cats!
