TNR Programs Help to Reduce Stray Cat Population

We love to see cats and kittens happily playing, showing their curious and sometimes aloof personalities, but what we don’t enjoy seeing are the cats and kittens who are out in the elements trying to survive. Sadly, there are large populations of cats and kittens that do not have homes and are feral.

To help address this issue Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) programs have been established. One of A Kind Pet Rescue has a TNR program. To learn more about our TNR program and how to safely and humanely trap a feral cat(s), please visit our TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Guidelines.

TNR is a proven method that is both humane and effective at controlling the feral cat population. Each cat that goes through the program is humanely trapped, given vaccinations, spayed or neutered, then returned back to the area where it was trapped. TNR also helps to reduce behaviors that can be associated with large cat populations, which are fighting, yowling, spraying, and reproducing.

Cats that go through a TNR program are ear tipped. This signifies that it has been spayed or neutered, which can be very helpful to caretakers of the feral cats. Ear tipping occurs when the cat is under anesthesia and there is a 1/4 clip of its left ear.
